Olive Museum - Trevi

The Museum of the Olive Tree is dedicated to the culture and cultivation of the olive oil. It is located in the former convent of San Francesco, built in the thirteenth century and renovated in the nineteenth century by Giuseppe Valadier, adjacent to the church of the same name and the Municipal Art Gallery.
The reasons for the exhibition project move within two main themes. The first originates from the idea to offer the visitor the opportunity to explain and make known the microcosm linked to the cultivation of olives and the production of oil in the environment of Trevi in the knowledge that the events of the "special" are equal to or similar to those of all the other towns in Umbria, where it is cultivated the olive tree. The oil is not only a product of excellence in the area of Trevi, but its cultivation is something that is rooted in the Umbrian territory became part of the history and traditions of its people.
An itinerary led by a farmer of the place, even with the help of slang expressions, part of the culture of the place, shall accompany the guest inside the loop of olive cultivation, production and storage of oil, giving indications about the various processing techniques, not forgetting the rituals, superstitions, religious beliefs typically local. The second theme broadens horizons in the macrocosm of the millennial history of the olive and olive oil in the Mediterranean environment.
A synthetic but complete, which is divided into four sections: botany; let's know the oil and the olive tree, the olive tree symbolizes peace; history of the olive tree. You have also the opportunity to taste and learn to distinguish among different types of oil, as well as to print the recipes that provide for the use of olive oil and designed by the famous chef Angelo Paracucchi.
